• Support mathematics conferences, sponsor speakers, and provide special events that benefit faculty and students throughout the state including up to $1,200 annually for:
  • WAMATYC sponsors "Sessions in Mathematics" talks at the Washington College Mathematics Conference (WCMC) to showcase quality mathematicians in the northwest. Past Speakers: 2016
  • WAMATYC sponsors a keynote speaker at WCMC.
    
  • WAMATYC hosts a Division Chairs meeting at WCMC.
  • WAMATYC provides gift card awards to student speakers at the Western Washington CC Student Mathematics Conference.
  • WAMATYC provides a monetary prize to the Washington college mathematics team placing highest on the AMATYC Student Math League Contest.
  • WAMATYC coordinates nominations to AMATYC for student scholarship and for faculty travel scholarships.
  • WAMATYC recognizes outstanding Washington college mathematics faculty members with WAMATYC Teaching Awards.

• Effect change in mathematics education at a national level. WAMATYC is your voice and vote in the national parent organization, the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges. Founded in 1974, AMATYC is the premier national organization exclusively devoted to improving mathematics education in U.S. community colleges. Washington state is automatically allowed two delegates at national AMATYC meetings. For each 50 members of WAMATYC we receive one extra delegate. Delegates vote on vital proposals and position statements at the national level that affect us all.

How to Join WAMATYC or Renew Your Membership

Membership dues are $10 per year renewable each spring. The WCM Conference registration form includes an option to join/renew WAMATYC. You can also join/renew by submitting a completed join/renew form via snail mail. Membership status questions can be directed to our Financial Officer, Christopher Milner at cmilner@clark.edu.
